Butternut is available in both Clear (click on picture to the right) and Antique grades (picture on left).

50 years ago, healthy American Butternut trees could be found in the northeast forests without much effort. The tree's unusual bark, and leaf pattern made it easy for nut gatherers to find in late September, where they'd find bushels of rich butternuts to take home to dry. Today, a butternut tree is more likely to have about 1/2 its normal amount of leaves, and produces just a couple of handful of nuts.

Butternut is our most used wood in our Early Settler's line. Its natural grain patterns and wonderful golden brown color looks like 100 year old pine.
